Meet the Assistant Principal

About the Assistant Principal, Stephanie Yorio
My journey in Kyrene began over 25 years ago as an art educator, where I saw firsthand how creativity can open doors to connection, confidence, and a love of learning. That experience sparked a passion for helping all students feel a sense of belonging and purpose at school. I’m honored and excited to join Kyrene del Cielo as Assistant Principal, and I can’t imagine a better place to blend my love of the arts with my commitment to creating a supportive and inspiring school community.
I was born in Wisconsin but have spent nearly all of my adult life in the Phoenix area. I attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Art Education. I completed my student teaching with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools while living in Germany—an unforgettable experience that helped shape my perspective as an educator.
During my early years teaching in the Kyrene School District, I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education, once again through NAU. Most recently, in 2022, I completed a Master’s in Educational Leadership through Grand Canyon University.
My husband, Jason, and I live in Ahwatukee and are proud parents of two adult sons. Our oldest, Lewis, is attending Mesa Community College and pursuing a career in graphic design. Our younger son, Sam, is studying engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. We also share our home with three rescue dogs—Leo, Fin, and Jett—who come in large, medium, and small! We love to travel as a family and explore the beauty of the world around us (although the dogs prefer to stay home... except Jett, who I’ve been tempted to sneak into my suitcase more than once).
I’m so excited to begin this new chapter at Kyrene del Cielo. I look forward to meeting each of you and doing amazing things together as a community!
