Meet the Assistant Principal

Mrs. Becky Minarcik

I am the new Assistant Principal at Kyrene del Cielo. I have been an educator for 23 years. I began teaching in Chicago as an elementary reading and special education teacher. I have also taught at Concordia University, Arizona State University and Phoenix College. I founded my own Autism therapeutic school and served as the principal for two years.  Life then took a huge turn during my time as a principal as my daughter sustained a traumatic brain injury and then my husband accepted a position relocating our family to Arizona. For the past twelve years I have been a teacher, instructional coach, title 1 coordinator and an assistant principal in Mesa Public Schools.  I am thrilled to now join the Kyrene School District at Cielo.

I have a BA in secondary English and History.  My first master’s degree is in Special Education and my second master’s in educational leadership.  I believe that all students can and will learn. I am passionate about providing students with rigorous learning environments that prepare them for their future endeavors.  I am looking forward to building relationships with the students and families of Cielo.

My wonderful husband and I have two grown adopted sons that have blessed us with 8 grandchildren, a biological son that just graduated and is heading off to college in California, and then our biological daughter who is starting high school.  My husband and I were also foster parents for 15 years. I am always thrilled when some come back to visit for Sunday and holiday dinners.

When I am not at school, you might find me biking on the canal, hiking on trails, or reading poolside.  I love living in this beautiful state of Arizona!
